Jakarta never seemed to get enough of Japanese cheesecakes lately, starting from Hokkaido, Fukuoka, Tokyo, and more. New cheesecake brand keeps on coming in with various variety from tarts to fluffy cheesecake. I'm not going to review Pablo today since I honestly don't like it too much (personal opinion, what about you guys?), so I'm going to review one of the black horse in the Japanese cheesecake business, which is Ezo Hokkaido Cheesecake and Dessert.
Ezo is actually pretty famous during its grand opening days, but I see that the popularity is kind of going down lately compared to its competitors like Uncle Tetsu or Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart. Nevertheless, Ezo is actually one of my favorite! The taste is consistent, price is affordable compared to the other cheesecake brand, and the place is very comfortable.

You can find Ezo in Mall Taman Anggrek, Mall Kelapa Gading, and Pantai Indah Kapuk. In Mall Taman Anggrek, it is located on the 2nd floor beside Eaton restaurant. The place is not too big, but pretty eye catching. It has a chill, sophisticated, and elegant feel to it. They use big sofas and comfy arm chair, which is a big plus. If you're lucky and the place is not too packed, this place is perfect to just chill out with your girl friends or even a relaxing me time (the song they played was so calming!). Be prepared to do takeaways because they don't have too many seats inside.

Tiramisu Cheesebomb and Marshmallow Cheesebomb (IDR 12k each)

Their main specialty here is the cheesebomb, which is mini cheese tart with various flavors. You can have them baked or chilled, but I prefer it baked myself because it gives a crunchier texture to the tart crust. Not all of the cheesebomb can be baked, though! Like this tiramisu one, which can only be eaten cold. The tiramisu cheesebomb is dusted with bitter cocoa powder on top, filled with coffee flavored cheese filling. I personally think it captured the taste of tiramisu perfectly. For the marshmallow cheesebomb, I actually expect it to be really sweet, but it's actually not! Under the sticky marshmallow topping is a chocolate flavored cheese filling. I can taste a bit of coffee in the filling, but almost unnoticeable. Can't really feel the cheese taste in this one, so I'm not really a fan.

White Chocolate Almond Cheesebomb and Blueberry Cheesebomb (IDR 12k each)

The white chocolate almond was love at first bite. HIGHLY recommended. The crust is crunchier than the others, and the combination of almond, white chocolate, and cheese is just PERFECT. I actually find that the white chocolate taste like Silver Queen's white chocolate bar, not the usual compound chocolate for baking (which is one of the reason it tasted so good, I think). The blueberry cheesebomb is also quite good. Thought I was going to find a blueberry jam filling inside, but none. It's only a thin swirl of blueberry jam on top, but you can still taste the blueberry taste. If I have to describe it, it kinda tasted like Breadtalk's blueberry cheesecake. Not that mindblowing, but definitely a good choice.

Polo Pan with Cheese Gelato (IDR 25k)

The cheese gelato was really cheesy. Not the sweet cheese dessert type, but actually a bit salty and strong (like a cheddar taste). It's different from the camembert cheese ice cream, which is a soft ice cream cone. The camembert one is sweeter and the cheese flavor is more subtle, while the gelato one is stronger and saltier. Two scoops of cheese gelato were put inside a bread called the polo pan, which looks like a Japanese melon bread. I think the bread is a bit too hard because of the sweet dough crust on the top and bottom of the bread, but the sweet and salty combination of the bread and the cheese gelato works well. The only thing I don't really like is that it's kinda hard to eat. Trust me, it could get pretty messy. Worth to try, though!

They kinda look like pacman, no?
I personally like Ezo because of the taste, the affordable price, and the comfy place. All of the flavour is like infused to the cream cheese filling, so it blends perfectly with the cheese taste. Not too sweet, not too sickening, and just right (Try to hold yourself from eating too much because they are pretty small and you might forget your self control. It happened to me, folks). So, what's your favorite cheesecake shop? Share me your thoughts and have a sweet day! :)
